Spring Forward
We're very happy Spring is finally here (according the the calendar), but we're under the impressions that she seems to be unable to let go of her long relationship with Winter. C'mon Spring, get with the program. It's over between you and Winter, he's just not that into you.
Here's a little taste of the First Day of Spring from our neighborhood:
We had a little birthday gathering for our cousin Sharratt, full of yummy food, cake, and wine. He was also marking his one year anniversary in NY, which is a big step for anyone. Renato's one year will be coming up in early May, so we'll be sure to find an excuse to party!
We made a chocolate buttercreme cake with raspberry filling.

And the next morning we woke up to this. Lovely.

This is a great example of simple (and tasty) packaging. I think Tropicana was trying to do this with their rebrand earlier this year. Unfortunately they failed miserably and instead were taken for the generic store brand. Lucky for the consumer, the millions of dollars spent on their new campaign went to waste, and the old packaging will be back on the shelves by the end of the summer. Doo smoothies though, they did it right. Simple, yet to the point. Tropicana before (left) and after (right):

And a taste of Winter
We went upstate with some friends to enjoy a little peace and quiet. No cellphones, no computers, no plugging in. Just nice people and good food (and a New Years countdown). This is the thermometer just as it started to warm up.
A snow-covered graveyard. I don't know why I have a fascination with these, but something about all of the names and headstones really are appealing. This particular graveyard was right next to the cutest church, which Renato is standing in front of in the next photo, on a 4 foot snowdrift.
