Roller Derby

For those of you who have not yet discovered the great sport that is Roller Derby, I think it's time you get a sneak peek. New York has one of the best derby leagues in the country, and the reigning national champions as their all-star team.

We went to a bout a few weeks ago, Manhattan Mayhem vs. Queens of Pain (there's a team for 4 of the 5 NY Burroughs) Introducing the Mayhem:

In the end the Manhattan Mayhem rolled their team to victory, bumping the Queens out of the championship bout. Very serious stuff!!

Also, if you hadn't heard, in 2007 I tried out for the team and made the initial call backs, but not the final cut. After a short hiatus from my training, I've decided to pick up where I left off and give it a go again this year. No, this is not just a game where you try to punch the other girls in the face and break their teeth. Yes, this is a full contact sport. No Pain, no Gain. Wish me luck!!
