We can't believe it's already been a year since we were married. It's been a wonderfully busy 12 months, just getting settled into a routine (finally) and having as much fun as we possibly can. We love living in NYC and all of the fun things that are constantly happening here. BUT, for our anniversary we decided to get on a train and head up the Hudson River for a little peace and quiet.
We landed in the little village of Cold Spring, NY. There were tons of great antique shops and places to eat, and even a Harvest Festival the weekend we were in town. Renato's stumbled upon a Guinness pot pie, and chased it down with none other than Guinness (his favorite!). Looks like we'll be coming back so he can get his fix! Here's a look at the Harvest Festival.

Note Renato's hands are full of none other than:
1) Mojito popsicle
2) Jumbleberry Pie (in brown sack)
3)Chocolate Mint Goats Milk Fudge (in the other brown bag).
Yes, ALL WE DO IS EAT! And we love it. One day someone asked us what kinds of things we like to do in the city, and in unison we said "We like to eat." Now that's love.
We tried to find a bookstore in the village, and ended up walking 2 miles just to find what was supposed to be a place of literature, but instead was a little rundown shack that was "closed for the afternoon" and had some strange gardening equipment in the window. I'm pretty sure if it were open, we wouldn't have gone in anyway. Wasn't quite up to par. On the way, we passed this church, which was lovely.

When we got home (on our actual anniversary day) we braved the freezer. Or, what had been in our freezer for quite some time. Eliza was kind enough to take care of our cake top for the weeks after the wedding, and then she carried it onto a plane and all the way here, passing the torch. The cake box was in our freezer for some time and had traveled many miles; we were certainly unknowing of it's true condition until we opened it that day.

IT WAS PERFECT! Really, in prime condition. Just as beautiful as it was the day we were married (Thank you, brilliant Carola!) Even the flower made it undamaged.

We were brave and each had a slice of the cake. Then Renato had a second, yes, A SECOND. It really did taste pretty great for year-old-cake. What a great end to our first amazing year together (and we're so happy to have our freezer back!)
